Not sure where to start?

Come join us FOR FREE on Mondays after 5PM until sunset. (Weather permitting during daylight savings)

What do you need you bring?

  • You and the desire to learn

What do we provide?

  • We bring the planes

  • We bring the batteries

  • We bring the chargers

  • We bring the transmitters and 'Buddy' boxes

  • We bring years of flying experience and love for the hobby

  • We bring instructors who carefully bring you up to speed

  • We bring years of hard earned advice if you already have a plane

If you're not sure you want to get into the hobby, don't spend your money now.

We'll train you on our planes... then, when you get hooked... we'll guide you in the right direction for your first plane, or second... or third...

Also, there are some R/C plane/helo simulators out there. Try the RealFlight series... an incredible help for those just starting out.
Crash and burn your plane... you're out a few hundred $$$... crash and burn on the sim... push  a button and start over.

If you would like to start off with your own trainer plane we highly recommend an E-Flite Apprentice S15e RTF Beginner R/C Airplane with Safe Technology. You can purchase with or without a transmitter. You can see a video review HERE

Gone are the days of spending months to build a plane! (Unless you want to)  Now you can purchase an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) or RTF (Ready To Fly) that can be built in less than an hour. Strong Styrofoam construction and as little as 4 screws... and you're flying!

Also, if you don't want to deal with fuel powered engines, todays electric planes give all the thrills and speed you need without the duties required for fuel powered engines, however both are welcome!

Here are some excellent training videos by "Flite Test".

Some terminology you might hear and want to learn on the field.

  • Taxiing in
Coming back to center from end of runway after landing.

  • Coming out
    Plane taxiing onto runway

  • Touch & Go
    Self explanatory

  • Landing
    Self explanatory

  • Dead Stick
    Self explanatory

  • Awe CRAP!
    Self explanatory

  • Landing from the East/West
    Self explanatory

  • $#$&#$$%  $$#%%$!  ##$%$ #$@ %(%*% $*$%(*%&%$**($!!!!!!
    Darn

  • Low/slow flyby (followed by a direction)
East to West or West to East
Along the length of the runway.

Some helpful tidbits!

When looking at plane from behind:

Transmitter Stick Left = Left Aileron UP

Transmitter Stick Right = Right Aileron UP

DON'T FORGET TO HAVE SOMEONE TAKE A VIDEO OF YOUR MAIDEN FLIGHT!!!
THEN SEND US A LINK/VIDEO OF YOUR MAIDEN FLIGHT SO WE CAN ADD IT TO OUR MAIDEN FLIGHT PAGE HERE!!!

AND MOST OF ALL... HAVE FUN!

One Weekend to Solo

Author: David Scott

The central Solo techniques that all good flyers use are brought to the forefront and systematically assembled to enable beginning R/C pilots to achieve Solo in the shortest amount of time. Utilizing the DAS System, techniques designed to bypass common errors and enhance practice effectiveness focus the pilot's attention on controlling what the airplane does instead of reacting to it. (Consider that when a pilot applies his or her control inputs correctly to begin with, the need for additional corrections is less likely, and the more time there will be to focus on learning and the next maneuver.) Presented in an easy to follow crawl-walk-run format, lessons are explained in terms of what to do, how to do it, and why it is done this way to make the lessons easier to remember and incorporate into actual practice. Developed over 20 years professionally training student pilots how to fly in less than a week, One Week To Solo covers everything a novice pilot needs to know to quickly start flying with skill and confidence.

Sport (Basic) Aerobatics

Author: David Scott

Sport Aerobatics is a flight training system developed to increase practice effectiveness and instill the skills needed to effect a more satisfying and fun R/C piloting experience for years to come. Utilizing the DAS System, Sport Aerobatics teaches the advancing pilot to view aerobatic maneuvers as a series of predictable steps, with an emphasis on controlling what the airplane does instead of reacting to it. Learn everything you need to know to perform exciting maneuvers such as loops, rolls, Immelmanns, Cuban 8 s, reverse Cuban 8 s, 4 and 8-Point hesitation rolls, and more. Presented in an easy to follow crawl-walk-run format, and featuring many full page illustrations with matching control stick positions, Sport Aerobatics is fun to read and even more fun to apply.
