About The Event
INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND BASH
Only one week until our 3 day extravaganza at Johnson field. Hope everyone is making their plans to join in. Camping is available all weekend or just come on out during the day. Following is a schedule of what we have planned for the weekend:
FRIDAY JULY 1 - The field is open for camping and normal flying. Night flying for all who want to join in.
SATURDAY JULY 2 - Open flying until 10:00 AM when we will have our monthly club meeting. Bring out your new birds for Model of the Month. We will be serving a free barbeque lunch right after the meeting so no donuts to spoil your appetite. Aerotow will also be after the meeting but we will be sharing the field with the powered planes also. Open flying all afternoon. When it gets dark we will be having some Red Neck night flying. If you haven’t seen or tried this ….well shame on you. This is open to all foamies, small planes and helis even if you don’t have onboard lights as we will be having multiple spotters shining spotlights on your planes. This is a real hoot.
SUNDAY JULY 3 - First round of Star Spangled Trifecta starts at 9:00. Get your versa wings and assassins ready for our “Bombs bursting in air” combat. Afterwards we will be having a few special competitions …timed events, spot landings, dead stick landings….maybe even a tail dunk competition in a water filled kiddie pool. We will have the big club barbeque grill out for all that want to use it in the evening. Also more night flying.
MONDAY JULY 3 - INDEPENDENCE DAY - 2nd round of Star Spangled Trifecta starts at 9:00 AM. Hope you were able to patch up your birds from yesterday. Open flying the rest of the day with our annual Club barbeque lunch starting at 11:30……hamburgers, hot dogs with all the fixings. Bring your favorite side dish or dessert to make it a real Independence Day feast. We will be having a free club member raffle after lunch with some great prizes to finish off a great weekend.
