AIRPLANE AND HELO FLYING FIELDS
Johnson Field is located on about 85 acres on the Northeast corner of the intersection of I-15 and State Highway 76. We are about 16 miles North of Escondido on I-15. From I-15, take Highway 76 East towards Pala less than 1/2 mile and turn North on Pankey Rd. Enter the Palomar Flying site through the green gate. On weekdays, members must have a key to unlock the gate. The gate is open on weekends and holidays from about 8am to 1pm or when events are scheduled.
The public is welcome to come and visit us during those hours. If you are interested in joining, come out anytime – mornings are the most active period. We have separate flying sites on the property devoted to RC airplanes and RC helicopters. View video here.
We have been flying at our current location since 1997. We are seeking additional flying locations for our club members due to the rapid development of housing and a Community College in close proximity to our field. While we are in no danger of losing our flying privileges at our current location, if you have some open land that might be suitable in the North San Diego County area, we want to hear about it! For further information, please contact Steve Gebler at (760) 519-8163.
Joslyn Senior Center Club Meetings suspended due to COVID-19 until further notice.
We have business and social meetings once a month at the Joslyn Senior Center in San Marcos. These meetings are open to the public and start at 7:15pm on the 3rd Thursday of the month except in December. The Joslyn Senior Center is located at 111 Richmar Ave. in San Marcos – on the Southwest corner of Twin Oaks Valley Rd and Richmar Ave. Take Highway 78 to the Twin Oaks Valley Rd. Exit then North, cross over the bridge (railroad) and turn left at Richmar Ave. The map below can help. Again, our meetings are open to the public and we welcome visitors. There is usually an RC information session, snacks are available and we sometimes have a raffle of RC goodies.
