FAA Renewal

For those of you who are coming up on their FAA Registration renewal process, the FAA changed things slightly back in 2022 and now want an aircraft of some sort attached to the registration.

The AMA created a great article for the process, and they walk through, step by step, how to sign up and renew your FAA Registration all in one, at: https://amablog.modelaircraft.org/amagov/2022/08/09/update-to-the-faa-dronezone-and-registration-renewal-process/

Make sure you read through the process completely BEFORE you start, as you may need to skip certain steps if you are RENEWING your registration!!!

Find Us!

Flying Field

We have a 600'x40' asphalt runway, four separate helicopter pads, a pit area with tables and chairs, toilet facilities, plenty of parking, and an RV parking area (no facilities).

Johnson Field is located on about 70 acres on the Northeast corner of the intersection of I-15 and State Highway 76. We are about 16 miles North of Escondido on I-15. From I-15, take Highway 76 East towards Pala less than 1/2 mile and turn North on Pankey Rd. Enter the Palomar Flying site through the green gate. On weekdays, members must have a key to unlock the gate. The gate is open on weekends and holidays from about 8am to 1pm or when events are scheduled. The public is welcome to come and visit us during those hours. If you are interested in joining, come out anytime – mornings are the most active period. We have separate flying sites on the property devoted to RC airplanes and RC helicopters.

2025

President’s Message:

There are many highlights this month involving members volunteering and stepping-up to make us the best club we can be.

As a club, it has always been our objective to provide a safe and relaxed environment for our members and guests. Mark Olsen spent countless hours with the AMA evaluating our existing safety procedures and how these rules can be implemented in our safety program and existing by-laws. Mark spoke at our board meeting this month for 40 minutes on AMA compliance and how best to integrate our club to be in full compliance. Mark also gave some incredible insight to the board on modifying safety issues for our club. Thank you, Mark, for working so hard as our safety officer.
