The Palomar RC Flyers Club has long been recognized as the premier R/C Heli club in southern California. The year-round great San Diego weather affords club members many days (and nights) of flying time. Our heli field is separate from our airplane field which allows unobstructed r/c heli flying for everything from practice to wild 3D. The heli field has several pads for flying and is equipped with a covered pit area.
Our heli pilots are a friendly bunch and are always willing to help prospective and new members with everything including flight line etiquette, heli setups, coaching and encouragement. Our members are interested in the social aspect of the club environment as much as they are about flying. They are passionate about helis and love to pass along their knowledge and experience to others.
Each year in May the PRCF hosts the San Diego Heli Fun Fly, a friendly and fun weekend of total all-out heli flying. Pilots from throughout California and the Southwest start arriving on Thursday for a full weekend of flying, socializing and barbequing. The event is attended by many pilots and all skills levels are welcome to attend and participate. It’s not a flying competition but it is a friendly weekend where heli pilots can gather and make new friendships and renew existing ones.
